The 7th Session of the Sri Lanka-Iraq Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation, which was held in Colombo 21-22 October 2010, concluded successfully with the establishment of Committees to study various areas
of cooperation.
Three Committees were set up to study
(1) Trade & Financial Cooperation
(2) Economic Cooperation
(3) Scientific, Cultural & Technical Cooperation
Both sides engaged in constructive and comprehensive discussions on a broad agenda with the aim of achieving a productive outcome to the meeting.
The high level Iraqi delegation representing a number of important economic sectors was led by Hon. Dr. Safa Al-Deen Mohammed Abdul Hakeem Al-Safi, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Iraq while the Sri Lankan delegation was led by Hon. Rishad Bathuideen, Minister of Industry and Commerc.
The Agreed Minutes was signed by Hon. Dr. Al-Safi and Hon. Mr. Bathiudeen, for Iran and Sri Lanka respectively.
