Department of Commerce Business Delegation to the World Food 2017 – International Food and Beverages Exhibition Moscow, 11 -14 September 2017.

The DOC successfully completed yet another trade promotional  programme in Moscow, by participating at the World Food Moscow 2017 – International Food and Beverages Exhibition, with the assistance of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation.

 

7 private sector companies were assisted by the DOC for this exhibition covering Sea Food, Spices, Coconut Products, tea and confectionery products. These products further covered the organic and health category   as well. Jay Sea Foods processing pvt limited and Global sea food pvt Ltd represented the sea food industry and NMK Agro Industries Pvt Limited, Abey Marine Pvt Ltd, Colombo export and Import Agencies Pvt Limited, CBL Natural Foods pvt Ltd represented   the spices and coconut product sector. Ceylon Biscuits Ltd showcased the confectionery sector at this exhibition.


Exhibitors  were satisfied with the business contacts they received at this show and expressed their keen participation in the upcoming exhibitions to penetrate into this promising market.


The DOC and the Mission in Moscow took this opportunity to organize a Business Networking Session for the Sir Lankan participants to strengthen their  prospective contact base in Moscow. The networking session attended more than 50 Russian buyers, retails chain representatives, food  & beverage sector, journalist and whole sale importers, The participant found the  event was beneficial    for expanding their business arms to this untapped Russian market.


Sea food sector has shown a remarkable progress through the participation at exhibitions and has picked up their sales volume form 60kg/ week to 1ton / week marking 1.3 million US Dollars trade turnover. Virgin coconut oil, cinnamon and other spices attracted more interested parties and the Sri Lankan counterparts are in the   process of business negotiations at the moment.
