Why we are here

"To develop and promote Sri Lanka's foreign trade relations at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels by the effective implementation of government trade policy, with a view to raising the standards of living and realizing a higher quality of life through the increase of total production, income and employment levels, thereby actively contributing to the overall economic growth of Sri Lanka".

Hon. Minister of Industry and Commerce visit to Thailand

During the visit of Minister of Industry & Commerce, Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen to Thailand from 11th to 14th January 2017 to participate at the APTA Ministerial Council,  met Minister of Commerce of Thailand, Hon. Mrs. Apiradi  Tantraporn, Thai Consumer goods exporters to Sri Lanka, a leading sugar exporting company, Mitrphol and also product manufacturer and a consultant of the Thai government’s OTOP project. Both Ministers discussed the proposed FTA and dates for the 2nd Sub Committee Meeting on Trade Related Matters.

The Fourth Session of the Ministerial Council of Asia Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) concludes successfully

The fourth Ministerial Council Session of the Asia Pacific Trade Agreement was successfully concluded on 13th January 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand. Sri Lanka Delegation was led by Hon. Minister of Industry & Commerce, Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen and included H.E. Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Thailand, Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne, the Director General of Commerce, Mrs. Sonali Wijeratne and officials of the Department of Commerce and Ministry of Finance.
